Not every city in Wales has it’s own government. You’ll usually find that many cities of Wales share governments and usually with smaller towns.

The cities of Wales are:

Bangor – Awarded city status in 1974

Cardiff – Awarded city status in 1905

Swansea – Awarded city status in 1969

Newport – Awarded city status in 2002

St Asaph – Awarded city status in 2012

St Davids – Awarded city status in 1994

Wrexham – Awarded city status in 2022
